The single most common question we get at King Edward Travel: should I book the 3-night or the 4-night Nile cruise? Both sail between Luxor and Aswan and both visit Edfu and Kom Ombo — the difference is direction, pace and price. The 4-night cruise sails Luxor → Aswan with an extra onboard day to enjoy the pool deck and the Esna lock. The 3-night cruise sails Aswan → Luxor and suits travelers combining Cairo and the Red Sea in 8–9 days.
Our rule of thumb: if Luxor and the Valley of the Kings are your priority, take the 4-night sailing from Luxor. If you want Abu Simbel at sunrise (2.5 hours from Aswan), start in Aswan with 3 nights, add the Abu Simbel day trip, then fly to Cairo or the Red Sea. Either way you sail on a 5* floating hotel with full board and Egyptologist guiding.
Whichever you choose, book the cabin deck high (better views, less engine noise), pack light layers for temple mornings, and let our team handle the rest — transfers, domestic flights, entrance fees and that felucca sunset in Aswan are all included in our cruise packages.
“A Nile cruise is not a transfer between temples — it is the holiday itself. Slow mornings on deck, egrets over the banks, and 4,000 years drifting past your breakfast table.”
